Data Collection

Page Assist is committed to user privacy and does not collect any user data. All operations and data storage occur locally within your browser.

Browser Permissions

The extension requires the following permissions to function:

• Notifications: To provide system notifications
• Website Content Access: Required for the chat-with-webpage functionality
• Unlimited Storage: Used to store chat history locally in your browser
• Active Tab: To ensure the extension is active on the current tab and get screenshots etc
• Scripting: For the chat-with-webpage functionality
• Web Requests: To modify headers of the local server to avoid CORS issues

Page Action (Companion Extension)

Page Action is a separate, optional companion extension that lets Page Assist perform actions on the page you are viewing (clicking, typing, scrolling, navigating, capturing screenshots, and similar). It only acts when an approved extension requests it, and like Page Assist it does not collect, store, or transmit any data to external servers — all activity stays on your device and within the active tab.

It requires the following additional permissions:

• Debugger: To read the active tab's content and perform trusted input (clicks, typing, navigation, screenshots) via the Chrome DevTools Protocol. While active, Chrome displays a "Page Action started debugging this browser" banner.
• Host Access: To act on the active tab regardless of which site it is on.
• Tabs / Tab Groups: To read tab information and open, switch, close, and group tabs.
• Scripting: To inspect and interact with the page's DOM.
• Storage: To store the list of approved extensions and tool settings locally.

Page Action only accepts connections from extensions you approve. Page Assist is allowed by default; any other extension must be approved before it can connect.

Page Share Feature

When using the Page Share feature:

• Data sharing only occurs when explicitly connecting to external sources
• Self-hosting option is available for complete data control
• Shared chats can be permanently deleted from the server at any time
• No data is retained after deletion

Data Storage

• All chat history and settings are stored locally in your browser
• No data is transmitted to external servers unless explicitly initiated by the user
• Users maintain full control over their data

Third-Party Services

Page Assist does not integrate with any third-party analytics or tracking services.

Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy as needed. Users will be notified of any significant changes.
